Love Amy Thielen! Our favorite holiday tradition is to always serve green bean casserole - we call it GBC.

Loved every bit of this post. I enjoyed considering putting twists on the side dishes. This year I’ve been focused on simplicity with a new baby in the house and LOTS of family coming to town for Thanksgiving. My mom is hosting and tbh, has outsourced much of our Thanksgiving menu. My gpa/her dad is having heart surgery tomorrow and we’ll be taking care of him while hosting at his house…

I wanted to do a few GREAT items (I’m a BIG sides fan) and outsource the turkey. I’m not a fan of turkey or ham served whole/sliced and left out to get cold particularly, but I do like turkey with cranberry sauce. In fact, cranberry sauce is my absolute favorite dish! This inspired me to put a twist on it and bring it to the Thanksgiving as a homemade side input a twist on. I wonder how cranberry sauce and orange/orange peel would pan out. I am a bitter/sweet girl through and through!

Thank you, Emily! I’m so glad you enjoyed it and are considering a few new twists on your table. Cranberry sauce is also one of my favorite sides—love that tart, brightness (hello “acid” again haha) to compliment the richness. The version I make uses a little fresh squeezed orange juice and orange zest. I’ve never made it with the peel as it might get bitter when cooked down. Wishing you and your family a beautiful holiday. Sending prayers for your grandfather’s surgery and recovery ❤️‍🩹
